Monika graduated from the University of Social Work, Esslingen in Germany as a Licensed Social Worker, specializing in the treatment of addictions and health psychology, counseling drug addicts, dialysis and cancer patients.
In 1998 she moved to California, where she graduated from the University of Santa Monica with a Masters in Spiritual Psychology and a Masters in Counseling Psychology. She provided counseling and therapy in several non profit agencies for a diverse population dealing with issues of abuse and neglect from 98 to to 2006.
In 2002 Monika became certified as a Kundalini Yoga teacher (KRI) and as a Yogatherapist in 2016. In the last 20 years she has been offering Yoga Therapy Empowerment Groups by combining spiritual psychology, yoga and meditation to maximize healing and well being. From professional experience and client feedback, Monika has found this to be a very effective, gentle & life changing method of healing, personal and spiritual growth. She is the forthcoming author on a practical yoga therapy guide.
In 2002 Monika co-founded a non-profit organization, Diamond Counseling Center and served as the Executive Director until July 2008. In this function she also supervised and mentored MFT psychotherapy interns. Since July 2008 she works in her own private practice with her office located in Huntington Beach.
For the past 23 years, Monika has specialized in treating individuals suffering from anxiety, self-esteem issues, trauma, relationships issues, addictions and compulsions, abuse, stress, depression and mood disorders, career issues and acculturation problems. Many clients come to her for personal and spiritual growth, seeking to live a life of more authenticity and fulfillment.
She is an experienced group facilitator: anger management, batterers’ treatment programs, parenting, personal empowerment, yoga therapy and spiritual growth workshops. She has and will work with families, couples and children. Her main focus is helping adults improve their lives. She combines different methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Family Therapy, Spiritual Psychology, Mindfulness therapy, Brainspotting and EMDR.
